Good to know
Encodes components such as query values, not entire URLs. Form mode represents spaces as +. Invalid percent escapes and UTF-8 sequences produce errors.
Operation: encode Input: 안녕 + hello? Form encoding (+ for spaces): false
Understand and use your results
Encode a query value such as a search term. This represents special characters within a URL component; it is not intended to encode an entire URL at once.
How to use it
- Choose encoding or decoding; enable form mode for form-style values.
- Convert the query value itself, keeping separators such as ? and & outside it.
Worked example
가 + (form mode)
%EA%B0%80+%2B
In form mode, spaces become + while a literal + becomes %2B. Standard mode uses %20 for spaces and leaves a literal + unchanged during decoding.
What if percent escapes are invalid or double encoded?
A percent escape needs two valid hexadecimal digits and a valid UTF-8 byte sequence. %25 may indicate that a percent sign was encoded again. Check the source encoding stage and convert only as many times as intended.
