Good to know
Unit price = total price ÷ quantity × reference quantity. A pack of 3 costing 12,000 is 4,000 per item. Use the same measurement units when comparing products.
Total price: 12000 Quantity: 3 Reference quantity: 1
Understand and use your results
Compare packs of different sizes on the same basis. A lower total price does not necessarily mean a lower price per item or per 100 grams.
How to use it
- Enter total price and quantity. For weight comparisons, use the same unit for both products.
- Use reference quantity 1 for per-item cost, or enter grams and use 100 for cost per 100 grams.
Worked example
price: 12000, quantity: 3, reference: 1
unitPrice: 4000
Divide total price by total quantity and multiply by the reference quantity. A 750g pack costing 6,000 is 800 per 100g. Counts and weights cannot be compared without a conversion.
Why is zero quantity rejected?
Quantity is the denominator, so it must be positive. The reference quantity must also be positive. To include delivery costs, add them to the total price before calculating.
